2020 seems like a good year to have a reboot.
I haven’t been giving as much love to my official Evil Genius Mum page. The original concept was to share information, ideas, events, and plenty of jokes to inspire your hope for the future. Parenting, creative projects, game and tech reviews. All the geeky stuff. Whatever helps us give the kids a better world than given to us.
My attention has been a bit divided of late. The EG Family has been super busy with a million and one activities; some of them not even on the same continent. At the same time, I have also been spreading the Evil Genius word far and wide across other media services and panel discussions. The pinnacle for me was last year at PAX Aust 2019, organising and presenting at my own panel with an amazing team: Gaming is Good for Your Health: Self-Medicating with Games.
The minute I finished the panel, I realised how much I missed connecting with people about Evil Genius Mum. Not just product reviews but discussions about why games are good, tech is useful, and parenting is ‘hands-on’. I missed talking with people about how we introduce geeky interests to our kids. And I especially missed talking about what we do with our spawnlings, and not just what we buy.
So, it’s time for a re-boot. It is as much time for me to refocus on my Evil Genius Plans as it is time for YOU to refocus on your goals in life too. And let’s face it, 2020 is a good year for that–whether we like it or not.
Expect to see a bit more of me over the coming months. There will still be game reviews and creative projects. There will definitely be plenty of opinions and I am not going to shy away from politics, social issues, or the disaster zone I call “parenting”. The world is pretty messed up right now and there is plenty of discussions to be had, often prompted by the spawnlings. And yes, there will be a lot of focus on the future. It’s all about being prepared for the future and taking responsibility for it too.
Okay. Let’s do this.
